About Us

The Applied Science Degree Program was established in 2001 under the guidance of Prof. B. S. B. Karunarathne and has been coordinated by Prof. Namal Priyantha and Dr. Pubudu Samarasekara and at the present day, the Applied Sciences program is conducted under the Environmental and Industrial Department, Faculty of Science, University of Peradeniya. The head of the department is Dr. Buddhika Dassanayake and the degree program is coordinated by Dr. Rangeeka Perera. This Degree Program was created to meet the demand of the industrial sector of lacking graduates with suitable knowledge in industrial activities. So, the aim is “To produce a model science graduate to be competent to work in the industrial sector”.

This target is achieved by organizing and performing several activities such as industrial visits, workshops, industrial days and etc. along with the ongoing academic program. Advice, support and financial aid from the senior Applied Science students are really appreciated in making these events successful.
